My Amazon Diaper Steal!

Amazon.com usually has some pretty good deals on diapers because they are always running different promotions.  I just happened to have access to two different promotions that I was able to stack on top of each other to make for some super cheap diapers!!

I got a bulk box of Pampers Size 3 diapers (the 198 count box) that are $52.99 at diapers.com for $14.96!!!  This makes each diaper only about $0.08 EACH!!

This is how I did it:

Amazon's Sale Price $47.52
Subscribe and Save Discount (30%)  -$14.26
Mailer (a postcard Amazon sent me) -$10.00
Save an Additional 20% from Parenting Magazine -$9.50
Shipping was free through my Amazon Prime
TOTAL  $14.96

LOVE deals like that!!  I should be good on diapers for a little while now at least!  :)

Note about Subscribe and Save.  If you want the discount but don't actually want them to re-send the item to you, wait until the item has shipped and then cancel your subscriptions.  You just go into your account info and it is under "Manage Subscriptions."  I got some really cheap toilet paper not to long ago doing this, too.  :)

Is Costco really cheaper?

I have started to ask myself this question since I have found the world of couponing.  I know for a fact that getting Cream of _________ Soups or Toothpaste for free or $0.25 definitely beats Costco prices.  But are there things I use a lot of that are actually cheaper at Costco?  Queen Bee Coupons did a recent blog post about this exact thing.  She actually went out and priced out things at Costco and put them on a spreadsheet as a reference for all of us!!!  Amazing!!  Click here is her blog post and the links to spreadsheet.  I know that I will definitely be referencing this when I am going grocery shopping since Costco is usually on my list of places to hit up.  :)

Some FREE Stuff I Picked Up Today

I had to go out and return some stuff from Christmas today and thought I would pick up some free stuff while I was out.  I got all of the stuff pictured for FREE!  I did have to pay the tax on all of it, but that is to be expected.

The Reach dental floss was at Walmart (and it is other places, too) for $0.97.  There is a printable coupon for $1/1 any Reach floss.  So, this made them FREE!

I got the Tide detergent and the Olay soap at Target.  The Tide single load detergent was $0.97 and I had  coupons from the 12/26 P&G Newspaper Insert for $1/1.  So all four of these were FREE.  I use these when we go camping.  The Olay soap was $0.97 a bar (you can find these in the travel size section).  I had coupons from the 12/26 P&G Insert for $2/1.  SO if you got two of these per coupon it made both of them FREE!

I heart FREE STUFF!!  :)

52 Weeks of Organizing-WEEK 1 and 2

So, since it is the 2nd week in the year already, I have two things to do this week.  The first thing I am going to do this week is go through my Christmas stuff and purge anything that I have not used in the last 3 years (I change my tree "theme" every year so I don't use everything every year) and reorganize to hopefully get everything into 3 bins instead of 5!  (I know....a lot of Christmas stuff!)  I KNOW that there is a lot of stuff that I have been reluctant to get rid of just because I have some sort of emotional attachment (I have a lot of "hand me downs" from my mom and grandma and great-grandma), but hey, they got rid of it because they no longer wanted the stuff, NOT because they were gifting it to me.  So, I just need to LET GO!

The second thing this week is going to be organizing all of my wrapping paper and wrapping "stuff" (tissue, bags, boxes, etc.).  I have already put up a post about this earlier today.  I am half way done with this project.  I just need to find another garment bag (I know I have one somewhere) and do my year round paper/accessories.  It will be SO nice not to have to dig all the time for wrapping paper and bags/tissue!!  :)

52 Weeks of Organization-A new random series! :)

So, I found this blog post last night as I was looking for some great organizing tips.  It seems like a really great way to get organized throughout the year.  It seems like if you break your house up into 52 week long projects, things might not be so overwhelming.  I am going to try it this year.  Also, I think I am going to try and "decorate" an area of the house every couple of months or so, too (hopefully with money "earned" from selling STUFF I need to get rid of!!).  Here is the blog post link:  52 Weeks of Organizing.  It has a great printable form that you can jot down your 52 projects.  I think I am going to try to post my weeks and what I have done.  Just for kicks! :)

Review of Indian Appleous 500

So far everything that I have made out of this cookbook (Eat, Shrink & Be Merry! Great-Tasting Food That Won't Go from Your Lips to Your Hips!) has been absolutely delicious!  And the best part is, they are all healthy, lower calorie meals!  I LOVE it!

My husband really likes curry dishes, so this was a hit with him right away.  I like them to an extent.  I enjoy sweet curry dishes.  This one was really good because it had coconut milk and apples in it.

It was easy to make with not too much prep.  You do have to prep the chicken a bit and chop a few things, but other than that, it was pretty simple and quick.  A great thing about this recipe is that it is a one-dish recipe.  Not a ton of dishes to do later!

Cameron really liked this recipe.  Connor, eh, he is Connor.  It is pretty hard to please him.  He did eat the apples and chicken, though, so that is a good thing!  :)

It has been put on the list of "will make again" recipes!  :)

Indian Appleous 500

Makes 6 Servings

2 1/4 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, each thigh cut in half
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped red bell pepper
2 tsp minced garlic
1 1/2 tbsp grated gingerroot
1 1/2 tsp each curry powder and chili powder
1/2 tsp each ground turmeric and ground cinnamon
1 can  (14 oz) light coconut milk
1/4 cup mango chutney
1 tsp lemon peel
1/2 tsp salt
1 cut peeled, cored and chopped Golden Delicious apples
1/2 cup frozen green peas
2 tsp cilantro
Cooked Basmati Rice

1.  Place a large, deep, non-stick skillet (with a lid) over medium-high heat.  Add chicken pieces and cook until both sides are lightly browned.  Remove chicken and keep warm.

2.  Add onions, red pepper, and garlic to the same skillet.  Cook and stir until vegetables begin to soften (about 3 minutes).  Add gingerroot, curry powder, chili powder, turmeric and cinnamon.  Cook and stir for 1 minute more.  Add coconut milk, mango chutney, lemon peel, and salt.  Mix well.  Stir in chicken pieces and apples.  Cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes.  Add peas and cilantro.  Simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes more.

3.  Serve hot with hot basmati rice.
