Last week didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. I did get all the Mary Kay stuff from my room sorted and I have a whole bunch of stuff to sell/give away. But there is at least one more bin in the garage that I did not go through and I still need to do it. Bummer! Two weeks now of projects almost but not completely done! :( Maybe I will work on that this week sometime.....;)
So, this weeks organizing project is my closet and dresser. I have a whole bunch of clothes that I know I will never wear again because I really don't like it any more or I am pretty sure I am not going to fit into it until it is out of style. I still have stuff from high school that I am holding onto because of the memories. Do I really need to keep the dress I wore to graduation? Probably not. Especially since I will never EVER be a size 5 again and even if I do ever have a daughter, she probably won't want to wear a dress that was in style in 1999.
I'm An Organized Junkie has a great post about how to go about tackling an organizing job. She calls is the PROCESS and it has 7 steps:
Plan your attack
Remove items from the space
Organize the stuff into piles, sort and purge
Containerize
Evaluate your plan
Solve and simplify
Smile, relax, and enjoy your hard work
Her post here goes into more detail about each of these steps. I think I am going to try to use these steps this week to complete my goal. Hopefully it will make the job less stressful! I will take a picture of my closet before (no judging, though! :) ) and after. Hopefully there will be a HUGE improvement!!
